Hi, everyone. Are you a fan of technology? If you are, it is absolutely essential for you to know a brief history of technology. The history of technology is a study of past inventions of tools and crafts. In the Stone Age, humans depended on simple tools such as fire, stones, and sticks for their food preparation, hunting , and survival.
With the progress of civilization, better tools and crafts were invented. The compass, gunpowder, papermaking, and printing were first invented in ancient China an greatly affected the lives of human beings. A Greek engineer named Heron of Alexandria (10 to 70 A.D) designed a basic steam engine. Later on, James Watt (1736-1819) improved the steam engine, which led to the start of the Industrial Revolution. The power- driven machine replaced hand tools. This invention enabled the large-scale development of industry in transportation and manufacturing. As a result, large, famous manufacturing companies were built with amazing speed in Europe, such as BMW, Airbus, and Fiat. Also, the Ford Motor Company, Boeing, and Chrysler were founded in the United States.
When we talk about modern technology, we should mention the computer. Do you know who the father of computer science is? Alan Turing (1912-1954) believed that machines could be designed to copy the operation of the human brain. He created Turing test in 1950, the very first step in creating artificial intelligence. The primary digital computer program he created has made it possible for people to work or play on the computer since the mid-20th century.
